The everyday choices that we make in life have the ability to affect our overall state of well-being to a much greater extent than we can imagine. Some choices have become so routine that we often forget to reflect on the consequences of our choices and decisions. This light attitude towards our habits often end up causing us regret afterwards.

This article will discuss seven habits which we should try to refrain from. The benefits of avoiding these actions will have a clear and visible impact on our overall productivity.

1. Irresponsible use of Social Media
It is no doubt that majority of the youth today has become severely addicted to social media. One of the first things everyone would prefer to do each morning will be to check the latest updates on Facebook/Instagram rather than doing other important tasks such as mentally & physically preparing ourselves for the day ahead. This curiosity to know about everyone‘s life has taken over our lives.
If you are able to change up your morning routine and social media habits, you would be able transform your overall productivity in the long-run.

2. Stressing over Nothing
In life, don’t always expect everything to fall perfectly into place. Don’t let the unexpected events, changes and new experiences decrease/depreciate who you are as a person. Don’t preoccupy yourself with the worry of future failure.

Understand the fact that not every time would things or circumstances be within your sphere of control. Most importantly, never worry about money. Just focus on being the best at what you enjoy doing and financial success will follow. Embrace the life as it comes.

Be aware of the fact that after distress comes relief. No happy moment is going to last forever, likewise no sad moment is going to last eternally. Everything is temporary. Just try to make the most of the time in your hands.

3. Not taking risks
Living a successful and meaningful life demands you to take on new challenges. Stop allowing the fear of rejection to keep you in your shell of comfort as this will do you more harm than good.
You can’t be successful every time. In such cases, you learn from your failures and move on to become a better or stronger based on that experience.

The small, new choices you make in your life will totally change your perspective about life and would open up more opportunities for you. You would also be able to discover new interests and passions.

4. Failing to Plan
Set your daily routine according to your priorities. Last moment preparation would always get you in trouble.
Even if you fail to adequately prepare yourself for some tasks, make a conscious effort to stay mentally present, and try to adjust your attitude and behavior according to the challenges of the day.

5. Complacency & Procrastinating
Have control over your desires. Don’t skip important tasks just because “you don’t feel like doing it”. Appropriately allocate time for important tasks and entertainment activities accordingly.

Don’t consume yourself watching your favorite TV series all day, no matter how hard it may be to refrain.
As easy as it is to waste your time in front of the laptop watching TV series and laying games, the satisfaction of doing something more productive such as visiting the gym for just one half an hours each day will have infinite effects on your body and soul.

6. Surrendering yourself to Temptations
Whether it’s saving money up for a new pair of boots, losing weight, earning a particular academic grade, you should endeavor to set and work toward goals on a daily basis.

From the very moment you set these goals, it will seem that boundaries and obstacles have appeared out of nowhere to inhibit and restrain us from achieving what we truly want.

In today’s world of unlimited distractions, cravings and temptations will inhibit us from doing what is set on our minds. This is where self-discipline comes into play. Train yourself to conquer these obstacles.
Be ready for every day challenges, and pat yourself on the back for moving one step closer towards your goal. If you get distracted, make a dedicated to get yourself back on track. Don’t let a few hiccups make you feel incapable, or less worthy. If you have the courage to dream it, then you have the ability to achieve it.

7. Helping others build their dreams while ignoring yours
It’s totally fine to help others in their journey, but ignoring your goals for other people’s goals is totally unacceptable. If you are doing something that is not making you happy or you are doing something just for the sake of making someone else happy then you are only doing yourself more harm than good.

Help others in building their dreams, but do not ignore your own dreams. Nobody is going to serve you your dreams on a platter (just like that); you have to fight for what you deserve. No one else could help you achieve your goals but yourself.
